The Challenge
When I joined the team, the product was on a tight timeline: just four months from release. But the web app was in serious need of help. The experience felt disjointed, the visuals were outdated, and critical workflows were confusing. Left as-is, the product risked disappointing both users and stakeholders on launch day
My role
As Senior Product Designer, I took ownership of the redesign. My focus was not only to deliver a polished and intuitive product in time for release, but also to create long-term design foundations that would help the team work smarter and scale faster
The process
1. Rapid Discovery & Research
I began by immersing myself in the product and market:
Conducted comprehensive competitor research to understand industry benchmarks and uncover gaps we could turn into opportunities
Gathered real user feedback to identify pain points in core workflows
Defined key user journeys that required immediate redesign attention
2. Restructuring the Experience
With insights in hand, I mapped out critical flows and restructured the UX to eliminate friction. This wasn’t just incremental — it was a full rethink of how users would interact with the app, ensuring that every action felt intuitive and purposeful
3. Full UI Overhaul
I executed a complete visual redesign, modernizing the interface to be clean, cohesive, and aligned with the product’s value. The overhaul elevated both usability and trustworthiness

4. Building Strong Foundations
To support the team and ensure consistency, I created:
Workflow outlines to streamline collaboration.
A Design QA checklist to catch issues before they reached engineering
A handoff checklist to make designer–developer collaboration seamless
A design system built from scratch, providing reusable components and clear visual guidelines that dramatically accelerated future work

5. Mentorship & Team Growth
I also focused on people. I mentored two product designers on the team, helping them strengthen their core skills, develop sharper design judgment, and build personal growth plans. Both quickly grew into stronger, more independent contributors
The outcome
In just four months, we transformed a struggling web app into a product that was:
Cohesive and intuitive — major UX pain points were resolved
Visually modern — with a clean and unified UI
Backed by strong design foundations — design systems and guides that continue to support the team today
Delivered on time — ensuring a smooth and confident release
